Five days of flat racing on the Downs — and one afternoon that belongs to the women
The ninth Duke of Richmond's guests called Glorious Goodwood a garden party with racing attached, and no day proves it like the Thursday. Ladies' Day on the Downs is not Royal Ascot — there is no rulebook about hat brims, no morning-dress police. Goodwood asks only that you look as though summer agrees with you. Which is precisely why it is the best-dressed day in British racing: when the dress code relaxes, style has to come from the woman, not the regulations.

The Thinking Woman's Race-Day Formula
The photographs that survive from Goodwood are never the loudest outfits; they are the most fluent ones. The formula we dress our own clients by: a printed statement, a tailored frame, and one considered accessory. The print speaks to the occasion — at a race meeting, an equestrian motif is not a costume, it is a courtesy. The tailoring makes it serious. The accessory (a panama, a silk scarf at the handle of a bag) says you have done this before.
