Dressing the Decades
A woman's guide to Goodwood Revival 2026
18–20 September 2026 · Goodwood Motor Circuit · the world's greatest dressing-up box
Once a year, a motor circuit in West Sussex becomes the most glamorous place in England. Goodwood Revival asks every one of its 150,000 guests to dress in the styles of 1948–1966, and the women take the brief further than anyone: victory rolls and tea dresses, capri pants and headscarves, leopard and pearls. It is the only event in Britain where dressing up is not optional — and the secret, as any Revival veteran will tell you, is to pick your decade and commit.
“Pick your decade. Commit. The half-hearted fedora fools no one.”
The 1950s: The Sweetheart
The most forgiving decade and the most photographed: full skirts, nipped waists, polka dots. Our Multicolour Polkadot shirt, knotted at the waist over a full black midi skirt, is the fastest route into 1955 that does not involve a costume hire. Add a chiffon headscarf and gingham flats. The Love Heart print does the same work with more wink — fifties sweetheart iconography, drawn loud.
The Femme Fatale: Leopard at the Track
Leopard print at the Revival is period-correct — it was the fifties' favourite transgression, worn by every screen siren who ever leaned on a Jaguar. The Catwoman Leopard shirt tucked into high-waisted black cigarette pants, cat-eye sunglasses, red lip: done. For the woman going full paddock glamour, the Leopard Skin double-breasted jacket is tailoring and attitude in one garment — worn over black, it needs nothing else.

The Evening: Lace After the Last Race
The Revival does not end when the engines stop — the Saturday night balls are period pieces in themselves. The Premium Lace Maxi reads forties couture from twenty feet; the Midnight Lace Noir is its darker, closer-cut sister. Over either, as the September evening cools trackside, the Winter Empress faux-fur cape is the most period-perfect layer we make — pure 1958 box seat.
Revival Rules, Briefly
Flat shoes or block heels — the paddocks are grass and the day is long. Layers over bare arms — September on a motor circuit has opinions. And carry a camera-ready attitude: at the Revival, everyone is in the picture. The man on your arm has his own orders in our men's Revival style guide — coordinate your decades, or the photographs will argue forever. The rest of the women's wardrobe lives in the complete printed shirt guide.
