The modern vacation wardrobe - wear the destination
Claudio Lugli Magical Lake Como resort shirt

Resort wear has grown up. The loud, throwaway holiday shirt of a decade ago has been replaced by something more considered - refined prints, natural fabrics and a tailored cut that looks as good on a terrace at sunset as it does by the pool at noon. It is the elevated cousin of the Hawaiian shirt, and it is exactly the territory Claudio Lugli was made for. The best part? Our prints do not just suggest a holiday - they name one. This is how to wear the destination.

The resort formula

Resort wear looks effortless because it is built on a simple formula. A refined printed shirt leads. Tailored chino shorts carry the day; lightweight linen or cotton trousers take over at night. Finish with a suede slip-on - no socks - and, when the evening turns smart, throw a lightweight linen jacket over the top. That is the whole wardrobe: breathable, tailored, and never over-thought.

The best resort wear does not shout holiday. It quietly says: I know exactly where I am, and I am in no hurry to leave.

Day to dinner, one shirt

The mark of good resort wear is versatility. The same printed shirt that is open over swim shorts at the pool becomes a dinner shirt when you tuck it into linen trousers and add a loafer. Choose a print with depth - a Lake Como, a Venetian view, a tropical stripe - and it carries you from lunch to a long dinner without a second outfit. That is how a small case does a big holiday.

Men's resort wear: FAQs

What is resort wear for men?

Resort wear is a refined warm-weather wardrobe for holidays and resorts: lightweight printed shirts, linen and cotton trousers, tailored shorts and easy shoes. It is smarter and more considered than basic beachwear, and more versatile than a novelty Hawaiian shirt.

What do men wear to a resort?

By day, a printed shirt with tailored chino shorts and a slip-on. In the evening, the same calibre of shirt tucked into linen trousers, often with a lightweight linen jacket for smarter restaurants. Natural fabrics and a tailored fit are the keys.

What is the difference between resort wear and a Hawaiian shirt?

A Hawaiian shirt is one bold, tropical style; resort wear is the whole refined wardrobe around it. Modern resort shirts use more considered prints and better fabrics, cut to be dressed up as well as down.
