Every Claudio Lugli shirt begins the same way. Not with fabric, and not with colour — with an idea. A koi pond glimpsed on a trip to Japan. A garage full of vinyl. A butterfly case in a dusty museum. Someone says “imagine that on a shirt”, and the cutting table does the rest.
For twenty years those ideas have come from inside the house. Today we are opening the door.
Welcome to Claudio’s Cutting Room
Claudio’s Cutting Room is a permanent new department of Claudio Lugli — an open invitation to the people who wear our shirts to inspire the next one. You bring the spark: a place, a memory, a story, an obsession, something strange and wonderful nobody has printed before. Our designers bring the interpretation.
It works in three moves. You imagine it — tell us what the shirt should be about, in a sentence or a paragraph; no drawing skills required. We explore it — every qualifying idea is reviewed by our creative team, and every submission receives its own permanent Cutting Room record number and timestamp. We bring it to life — and if your idea becomes a Claudio Lugli shirt, you are credited as its Originator and the first finished piece, in your size, is sent to you as our gift. Before anyone else in the world has one.
What makes a great idea?
Think in stories, not colours — not “a blue shirt” but “the neon lights and theatre signs of old London”. Be unexpected — the stranger the connection, the more interesting the print becomes. And make it personal — memories, passions and obsessions have always made the strongest Claudio Lugli shirts. Nothing is too colourful. It has never stopped us before.
Submitting takes less than two minutes. We ask only for your idea, your first name, email and country — nothing more unless your idea is selected. The full submission terms live here, in plain English.
From thought to cloth
When the first community idea enters development, its whole journey will be documented — the original words, the sketches, the print trials, and its Originator opening the box with the first shirt inside. That story could be yours.
The cutting table is set. The fabric is waiting.
