Match the aircraft to the decade
Goodwood’s circuit history traces the track to RAF Westhampnett and its perimeter road; motor racing began in 1948. Aviation is a real part of the site’s story, but not every aircraft motif belongs to the same era.
A Spitfire reference can support a wartime-inspired outfit. The RAF records that the Red Arrows formed in 1964 and first displayed in 1965. Their later aircraft and nine-aircraft formation should not be presented as a 1940 Battle of Britain image.
Keep the styling reference clear
For a restrained historic nod, use an aviation shirt with high-waisted plain trousers and a simple jacket. If your pass includes central Paddock access, follow the full guide’s jacket-and-tie rule. Prefer civilian period inspiration over uniforms: Goodwood discourages controversial uniforms and culturally appropriated items.
