One estate, three of the best-dressed days in the English summer. How to dress for the Festival of Speed, Qatar Goodwood and the Revival - and the prints that were made for each.

Goodwood is not one event but three, each with its own crowd, its own tempo and, crucially, its own dress sense. The mistake is to treat them the same. Get the distinction right and you arrive looking like someone who belongs there - whether that is a motorsport garden party in July, a day at the races, or a step back in time each September.
Here is how to read each one, and the Claudio Lugli print that was practically designed for it.

Festival of Speed - the motorsport garden party
Held over four days in July (9 to 12 July in 2026), the Festival of Speed is exactly what its nickname promises: motorsport's summer garden party, with everything from Formula 1 to vintage racers roaring up the famous hill, and Spitfires overhead. The dress code is smart-relaxed and unmistakably petrolhead - which is where a motorsport print earns its place. The Monaco Grand Prix Print Shirt and the graphic Grand Prix Stripes are made for it; for the aviation crowd, the Supermarine Plane Commemorative Shirt nods to the aircraft on display. Worn under a linen blazer or open over a plain tee with chinos and clean shoes, it reads enthusiast, not costume.
Qatar Goodwood - Glorious Goodwood
Late July (28 July to 1 August in 2026) brings the flat-racing festival known to everyone as Glorious Goodwood - the most relaxed of the great race meetings, but still a proper occasion, especially on Ladies' Day. Here the mood softens to breezy, summer-tailored elegance: linen, an unstructured jacket, and a shirt with just enough character. An equestrian print or a dressage check is the quiet insider's choice - on theme without trying too hard.
Three events, three moods. The man who knows the difference is always the best-dressed on the hill.
The Revival - dressing for another era
Each September, the Goodwood Revival turns the estate into a living period piece, and the dress code follows: genuine vintage or clothes that honour it. You do not need head-to-toe costume - a considered, characterful print with a heritage feel and a well-cut jacket carries the spirit, and looks like you rather than fancy dress.
How to wear it, whatever the day
The formula holds across all three: one characterful shirt as the statement, calm tailoring around it, and shoes that mean it. Let the print do the theme-setting, keep trousers and jacket simple, and finish with a leather boot or loafer. Considered, never costume - that is the whole of Goodwood style.
The Edit
Goodwood style: FAQs
Is there a dress code at Goodwood?
It varies by event and enclosure. The Festival of Speed is smart-relaxed; Qatar Goodwood is summer-elegant, dressier on Ladies' Day; the Revival asks for vintage or period-appropriate dress. Premium enclosures at any of them expect a jacket and no scruffy clothing.
What should a man wear to the Festival of Speed?
Smart-casual with personality: a motorsport or aviation print shirt, chinos or tailored trousers, a linen blazer if you like, and clean shoes. Comfortable enough for a day on your feet, sharp enough for the paddock.
What do you wear to Glorious Goodwood?
Breezy summer tailoring - linen, an unstructured jacket and a characterful shirt. An equestrian print is a fitting, understated nod to the racing.
